Registration PoliciesThe registration process starts with an advising period, which begins two to five days prior to the first day of registration. See the academic calendar on the Web. All students have assigned start dates. Students are responsible for knowing and adhering to university policies and procedures that apply to registration and schedule changes; checking the accuracy of his/her schedule on AccessPlus, including schedule adjustments (i.e., adds, drops, section changes); knowing the degree requirements of his or her major and/or curriculum; planning course schedules to meet those requirements; and monitoring the accuracy of the advisement/degree audit. Information for nondegree and graduate students. Tuition Reassessments for Schedule ChangesTuition and fees are subject to change by the University and Board of Regents, State of Iowa; tuition and fees are based on credit load at 5:00 p.m. on the 10th day of class. This is the last day for adjustments downward in tuition and fee assessment. See the Academic Calendar for dates relating to cancellation and withdrawal. Students who drop ALL course work on or after the first day of class (withdraw) should refer to the tuition adjustment schedule to determine their eligibility for a tuition adjustment. Cancel or WithdrawCanceling your registration means you are dropping ALL your courses before the first day of the term. Other deadlines apply for some courses such as second half term courses. If you have registered and will not attend classes, you must CANCEL your registration at least one day prior to the first meeting date of your earliest course to avoid tuition assessment. Your course meeting dates are listed on your AccessPlus class schedule. The tuition adjustment schedule lists the last day to cancel registration to receive 100% tuition & fee adjustment for standard sessions. NOTE: Contact the Office of the Registrar Tuition and Fees Area for cancel dates for non-standard Summer Sessions. You must notify Iowa State University of your intent to cancel your registration. To process a cancellation, download the form in pdf format and follow the instructions on the form; go to 0460 Beardshear Hall; OR call 515-294-1889. Other offices to contact (if applicable):
