Master's and Ph.D. Candidates
Completing Degree Requirements Summer 2012

Iowa State University does not hold a university commencement ceremony following the summer term. Students who plan to complete degree requirements during the summer term will have the option of attending either the spring or fall university commencement ceremony.

Information for Summer candidates participating in the Spring 2012 Graduate College ceremony

Criteria for Participation - view

  • Summer Master's candidates approved by the Graduate College to attend the Spring ceremony will receive ceremony information from the Graduation Office, 210 Enrollment Services Center, by email the week of April 9th.
  • Summer Ph.D. candidates approved by the Graduate College to attend the Spring Ceremony will receive ceremony information from Linda Thorson in the Graduate College, 1137 Pearson.
  • Names of students planning to complete degree requirements during the summer term and approved to participate in the spring commencement ceremony will have their names listed in the spring commencement program.

Information for Summer Candidates not participating in the Spring 2012 Graduate College Ceremony

Summer graduates who do not attend the spring ceremony will have the opportunity to indicate their attendance at the fall university commencement ceremony on AccessPlus the first week of July.

Summer Semester.
  • Complete Application for Graduation (Diploma slip)
  • The first week in July, the Graduation Office will send an email message to your ISU account with instructions to provide your preferred diploma mailing address and Fall 2012 ceremony plans through Access Plus.
  • Students not attending the Spring or Fall commencement ceremony should pick up a diploma cover in the Graduation Office, 210 Enrollment Services Center. Covers will not be mailed unless arrangements are made for postage costs ($5.00) to be added to your university bill.
  • Degrees will be verified and diplomas mailed the end of August. The official graduation date for summer term is August 4, 2012.
  • The fall commencement program will include an official list of all summer graduates.
