Welcome to ISU Fall Semester 2017!
We hope you had a great summer and are ready for an exciting year at Iowa State University! We’re glad you are here! Please review the important information below.
Make sure your current in-session address information is on AccessPlus.
The ISU Emergency Contact system will provide information for person(s) the university needs to contact in case of a personal emergency (e.g., if you are injured, become ill and cannot transport yourself). Note that this information is separate from your contact information and is not automatically updated. To submit your emergency contact information, go to AccessPlus and choose “Emergency Contact” from the left navigation menu on the homepage. This contact information is considered confidential and is only available to campus emergency response staff.
The ISU Alert emergency notification system will quickly alert Iowa State University students, faculty and staff of potentially dangerous situations on the Iowa State University campus. Visit the ISU Alert website for details on how to add or update your ISU Alert information.
As a registered student, your name, major, and year-in-school will be published in the ISU Directory unless you request that your information be suppressed.
To opt out of ISU Directory/Public information, click on the Address Change link on the Student tab in AccessPlus. See the Student Records portion of the catalog for details about student records, and the confidentiality policy.
THIRD PARTY ACCESS
Third party access is an option in AccessPlus that allows students to grant access to selected personal information to a trusted third party. For example, a student may set up a special account for a parent or family member to view their grades and/or pay their university bill.
Most schedule changes can be processed through web registration on AccessPlus through August 25. All schedule changes after August 25 must be processed with a signed Request for Schedule Change or Restriction Waiver form from your adviser. Then, submit the form to 10 Enrollment Services.
Important academic dates for the Fall 2017 semester are available on the Office of the Registrar website.
VIEW YOUR DEGREE AUDIT FROM ACCESSPLUS
Degree Audit on AccessPlus allows you to view/print a degree audit and provides options to assist you with your degree planning.
YOUR BILLING STATEMENT
Your most recent billing statement for tuition and fees can be viewed on AccessPlus. You will not receive a statement in the mail. You may pay online or print a copy and mail your payment.
TUITION ADJUSTMENT FOR REDUCTION IN CREDIT
Tuition and fees are based on credit load at 5:00 p.m. on the 10th day of class, Sept. 1, 2017. This is the last day for adjustments downward in tuition and fee assessment. Schedule changes that reduce your credit load and are completed after Sept. 1, will not be eligible for a tuition reduction. Please note: this deadline does not apply to students who drop all classes (withdraw). Students who withdraw from all credits are subject to the tuition adjustment schedule for withdrawals.
Tuition and fees are subject to change by the University and Board of Regents, State of Iowa.
TUITION AND FEES INFORMATION
Information about specific fee types is available on the Registrar's Other Fees page.
It is important to remember to file the "Free" Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year between October 1 and December 1 in order to be considered for priority financial aid.
DEPARTMENT OF RESIDENCE
Information Technology Services (ITS) can provide the most current information about software updates. You can reach them at the Solution Center 294-4000.
WHERE DO I GO IF MY COURSE HAS AN ONLINE PRESENCE?
If your course has an online presence it may be found in Blackboard or Canvas, Iowa State’s Learning Management Systems (LMS). To log into an LMS: open a web browser, navigate to the Iowa State University website, locate the "Sign Ons" link found on the upper right corner (above the search box), and then select “Canvas” or “Blackboard.” If you don’t see your course after logging in, contact your instructor. In spring 2018, Iowa State will only use Canvas as the campus-wide LMS. To learn more about Canvas, visit the MyCanvas Student online course or for help with Blackboard, visit the For Students: Blackboard Guide website.
