Reentry

Graduate Reentry

Reentry at the graduate level occurs when a graduate student has not been enrolled in the last 24 months and/or when the student's enrollment has been discontinued.

  • If a graduate reentry student is returning to the same graduate program, please reach out to your program for necessary steps to return.
  • If a graduate reentry student is now pursuing a different graduate program, please complete a new admissions application.

Please see the Return / Reentry policy in the current catalog for more details.

International Graduate Students

In addition to reentry, International Undergraduate Students must also complete the Returning to ISU electronic form for the International Students and Scholars Office in order to receive their new I-20 or DS- 2019. The form can be found under the F-1 or J-1 Student Services tab in CyStart. If you have questions or concerns in regards to your documents, please contact the International Students and Scholars Office at 515-294-1120 or isso@iastate.edu. (U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents do not need to complete the CyStart application.)

The university requires nonimmigrant international undergraduates to complete CyStart after an absence of one semester or more (not including summers).
