Iowa State employees with access to student information are required to complete online FERPA training every three years. The training will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Below are the steps for completing the training.
Navigate to Learn@ISU and login.
Search for "FERPA" in the keyword textbox.
Launch "Understanding FERPA" from the Registrar/Enrollment Services catalog.
Watch a quick video lesson.
Confirm the confidentiality agreement by clicking "I Agree".
Complete a 15-question quiz.
Exit course, your score will be sent to Learn@ISU.
Please note: Pop-ups need to be enabled for the training module to appear. When you click launch you may see a notification that your browser blocked a pop-up window. Click on that and choose allow pop-ups on https://training.ehs.iastate.edu/.
Also, if you do not pass the course, there is a retake button after you see your score. If you accidently close the course without retaking it, you can just search for FERPA again in keyword search and launch a new session.
If you are new to FERPA, check out FERPA: What School Officials Need to Know. Additional information is available at http://www.registrar.iastate.edu/resources/policies.
If you have any issues with the training, please contact FERPA@iastate.edu.
